The main aim of this international seminar was to explore the molecular mechanisms of ionising radiation induced mutagenesis and carcinogenesis using data derived from cellular and whole animal studies. The papers presented discuss topics including DNA repair and mutation, induced genomic damage, recombination, oncogenesis, molecular epidemiology, and modelling of the carcinogenic process. A report on discussions relating to genomic instability, and carcinogenesis and the modelling of cancer risk, is also provided.
