EC study - Lessons learnt from emergencies after accidents in Ireland involving dangerous substances
This report discusses the study to gather information on emergency planning and response in Ireland. A comprehensive review of policy, legislation and organisation is presented including details of statutory requirements, central and local government authorities and emergency and voluntary services. Relevant accidents which have occurred in Ireland at both fixed installations and during transportation are summarised. An evaluation of the suitability and efficiency of the emergency planning and response during and after accidents is given and the lessons to be learnt are discussed.
