This paper discusses the modified two-interstitial model (MTIM) in relation to the one-interstitial model (OIM). Rate equations are powerful tools which describe the accumulation and reactions of point defects during irradiation with high energy particles. The parameters used in the past are shown to be wrong. The properties and features of point defects are discussed. Experiments concerning Crowdions, interstitials and vacancies in Cu(3)Au are described.
