This paper deals with the issue of helium removal for steady plasma burn and plasma recycling via the neutral particle channel. Ash removal is discussed in relation to the quality of thermal insulation and experimental results for particle lifetime from TEXTOR and TFTR are presented. The effects of neutral particle recycling on the edge plasma flow and thus on the forces acting on the ionised helium particles are examined.
