Abstract

A Visco-Mach probe is proposed which can measure the normalised viscosity, alpha, and flow Mach number, M, simultaneously. Two ratios of current densities are determined by large and small Mach probes from which alpha and M can be deduced. The application of this probe to the JET reciprocating probe is discussed.
