Abstract

Pellet enhanced performance (PEP) has been observed in a number of JET discharges at various plasma conditions, in both L and H modes, with the H-multiplier covering the range 1 to 4 and with plasma currents from 1 MA to 4.1 MA. Impurity and density behaviour in PEP discharges is discussed, with details of experiments provided. Energy balance in the PEPs is analysed and a comparison of PEP versus non-PEP discharges is made. MHD activity during PEP phase is discussed and non-monotonic q-profiles are described.
