Abstract

Investigations into the fission fragment properties of 237Np(n,f) have been performed at the 7 MV Van de Graaff accelerator of the IRMM with neutrons in the energy range from 0.3 MeV to 5.5 MeV. A double Frisch-gridded ionisation chamber has been used to detect mass, kinetic energy and angular distributions for both fission fragments. Theoretical model calculations on the basis of the multi-modal random neck-rupture model have also been conducted and the predictions of the model calculations have been compared with the experimental results.
