Abstract

Investigations of Bi(4)Ca(3)Sr(3)Cu(4) samples have been conducted in order to establish new correlations between semiconducting and superconducting phases. The electronic state of Bi has been considered due to the importance of this element in this type of compound, and Xanes and XPS measurements have been performed. Results show that in samples of the same composition, a different atomic arrangement creates a superconductivity phase, together with a shift in the Xanes and XPS peak towards the lower energies. The correlation between superconductivity and charge transfer appears evident.
