Research and technology management in enterprises : Issues for Community policy (SAST project No. 8) : Case study on EnglandFunded under: FP2-SAST
This report presents and interprets data on the practice of technology management in England using information gathered from interviews conducted in twenty five firms. The UK economy and its knowledge infrastructure is examined as regards the labour market situation, sectoral structure and technology transfer and policies. Patterns of technology management are analysed with reference to the findings of the interviews, and the creation of corporate units for strategic management of technology is discussed. Policy recommendations are outlined to improve the practice of technology management in large firms and SMEs.
