Mine-by-test : A long term monitoring programme around an underground structure in the Boom clay
An underground structure, called Test Drift, was built in 1987 in the Boom clay formation. To monitor the influence of the underground structure, several measuring devices were installed in the ground mass before and during the construction phase. Other measuring devices were installed in the lining during construction. Piezometric devices were installed in 1988 from the Test Drift. The results of the measurements taken up to the end of 1992, together with the interpretation, are reported. Most of the measuring devices are still working properly. This monitoring programme allows the study of the long-term behaviour of the lining structure and of the surrounding clay mass.
