Abstract

The critical magnetic scattering associated with the phase transition to the antiferromagnetic state at T(N) = 172 K of single crystals of NpAs has been studied using synchrotron X-rays. Two components have been observed above T(N), one of which corresponds to the length scale of the magnetic correlations already observed with neutron scattering. The other correlation length is ten times longer giving rise to a sharp component in the critical scattering.
