Abstract

Experiments have been performed using a new conditioning method, reactive gas fuelling (RGF), which allows on-line conditioning during plasma discharges. Boron and carbon atoms in the form of trimethylboron were blown via fast gas inlet systems into the tokamak. Strong screening of the low-Z atoms in the outer plasma region led to acceptable plasma parameters in the centre. Results clearly show the possibility for on-line tokamak conditioning during plasma discharges.
