Performance of binary carbon materials under high thermal loads in TEXTOR
This paper discusses work aimed at improving the properties of graphite materials for specific requirements in fusion devices. Boron-doped graphites and titanium-doped graphite have been tested in TEXTOR as a single main limiter for 20-40 discharges and exposed to high power fluxes of up to 30 MW/m2. Line of sight thermal desorption mass spectroscopy has also been performed to analyse the thermal outgassing behaviour of the dopands (B, Si and Ti) and other impurities as well as impurity release under energetic deuterium impact.
