Abstract

The use of JET advanced ICRH phasing and matching techniques and antennae with beryllium screens have led to improved plasma performances. Reactor relevant ICRH results obtained in this way are reviewed and the heating and current drive scenarios for the Next Step are discussed. It is shown that a wide-band antenna design permits the exploitation of the heating and current drive scenarios and dispenses with the need for a ceramic support in the immediate vicinity of the antenna.
