Abstract

An experimental facility and methodology has been developed to capture the basic characteristics of interacting vaporising droplets exposed to a laminar forced convection flow. Several transient phenomena are observed even though the droplets are stationary with respect to the flow field. The three droplets show a quasi-stationary vaporisation regime during approximately the first half of their lifetime. For the later stages of the vaporisation process, the instantaneous vaporisation rates are totally non-stationary for the three droplets.
