Abstract

A digital speckle pattern interferometer with optical fibres is proposed for diagnostics of composite materials in an operative environment. A variety of flaws such as disbonds, delaminations and cracks of aircraft components can be detected. Additional fringes may be introduced to linearise the fringe pattern and obtain quantitative deformation measurements by Fourier transform analysis.
