Abstract

This article describes the partial purification and characterisation of 5'-nucleotidase/phosphotransferase from cultured Chinese hamster lung fibroplasts (V79 cells). The cells have also been exposed to 8-azaguanine and 8-azaguanosine to compare the effect and activation pathway of base and nucleoside analogs. The role of cytosolic 5'-nucleotidase in the in vivo activation of 8-azaguanosine is discussed.
