Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Diversification into non-nuclear fields of research has led the JRC to become interested in research aimed at determining the positive and negative impacts, the costs and benefits, and the advantages and risks associated with technological innovation, by the collection, analysis and processing of information which may be useful to the decision-making process. This study has been carried out as part of this work and aims to illustrate the decision-making support systems available in the context of environmental management. The role of computer technologies and the scientific approaches associated with complex decision-making, as well as decision-making support systems, are described, showing how useful these systems can be in dealing with environmental problems.
