Deoxycoformycin (DCF) is a powerful inhibitor of adenosine deaminase by virtue of its immunosuppressive action and has found clinical application for the treatment of several types of lymphatic leukaemia. This study concentrates on the cytotoxicity of DCF in combination with deoxyAdo on two human colon carcinoma (LOVO and HT29) and Chinese hamster ovary (CHO K-1) cell lines. The different sensitivities of the three cell lines to DCF are related to their distinct purine salvage enzyme pattern.
