Abstract

The use of absolute radiometric techniques for the bulk shield experiment at the 14 MeV Frascati neutron generator (FNG) is reported. In this application, the activity level in some cases gives results too low to be measured at the counting station. In these cases the radiometric measurements are performed using the low background HPGe detectors located at the underground laboratory of Gran Sasso d'Italia. The use of these detectors enhances the FNG capability of performing bulk shield benchmark experiments, allowing the measurement of very low activation levels.
