Determination of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins by application of ion-exchange HPLC, electrochemical oxidation, and mass detection
An ion-exchange-HPLC method for separation of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins is described. The toxins are determined by post-column electro-chemical oxidation and fluorescence detection. The fully automated method was successfully applied to standards and various samples. Data of linearity and repeatability are shown. The chromatographic conditions also allow coupling with mass-spectrometry.
