Hydroelectric power station for low head in the river Maas near Linne
The aim of the project is to demonstrate the use of the pneumatic caisson method in the construction of hydroelectric power stations, in order to prevent any influence on the groundwater level, to reduce building costs and to enable a compact construction. A further aim is to demonstrate the economic viability of a hydroelectric power station for low head along the river Maas, taking into account the secondary conditions (natural environment, shipping movements, water quality and flow, morphological conditions), and the possibility of constructing a series of hydroelectric power stations along the whole of the river. Finally, the effects of a specially designed fish ladder have also been studied.
