VJ-Center is an integrated organic waste-recyling plant consisting of a solid organic waste treatment line (reception hall, heat composting plant and a windrow composting hall), and eel production line (elver plant, small eel plant and two 50 t/year eel fattening plants) and an eel waste water-separated slurry treatment plant (anaerobic fixed biofilter for denitrification/biogas production and a water hyacinth plant for polishing of the waste water/evaporation of biogasified slurry and biomass production). The aim of the project is to demonstrate improved perspectives concerning energy, environment, resources and finance by treatment of solid organic waste products (mainly from agriculture and forestry) by means of a composting heat plant, by treatment of liquid organic wastes (separated slurry-waste water from the eel production plant) in an anaerobic fixed film reactor and aquaculture with water hyacinths.
