Setting up of a new Francis closed chamber monobloc turbine at an irrigation channel
The project consists of the installation of a new Francis closed chamber circular type turbine, forming with the alternator a compact monobloc unit with lower costs than the conventional spiral chamber type turbine, placed in a fall of an irrigation channel in order to take advantage of the multiple uses of the water and development by intercommunity cooperation. Previously, there was a generator unit connected to the area electricity company mains, to which the whole of its production was directed, this interconnection being at a voltage of 25 kV. By setting up this new type of turbine with novel features in an independent building, a better rationing of water resources available is achieved, as well as an increase in the annual production. At present, the installation is totally automated, without the need of permanent supervision by staff.
