MHD and confinement during pellet injection in FTU
The Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) machine is a compact high field tokamak designed to study the physics of fusion plasma in the presence of 8 MW of additional LHRF heating. The study investigates the parts of the FTU operating space over which pellet injection effects performance improvement and elucidates the phenomena which hinder it. In this respect the behaviour of the q = 1 resonance is found to play the most relevant role.
