Abstract

A number of European programmes deal with effectiveness studies and qualification of inspection procedures. The PISC programme (Programme for Inspection of Steel Components) has the general objective of assessing NDE procedures and techniques in use for the inspection of pressure components, in particular the vessel and piping. A newly formed group, ENIQ (European Network for Inspection Qualification), aims to coordinate and manage expertise and resources for the assessment and qualification of NDE inspection techniques and procedures, primarily for nuclear components. Its ultimate goal is the supporting of international codes and standards bodies by making available state of the art results, technical tools, expertise and performance/capabilities demonstration exercises, which can be sponsored and managed at a European level.
