This article presents the most important results obtained in the framework of the PISC programme. The total programme consists of three different phases, and is now at the end of its third phase (PISC III). The activities are focused on the validation of the PISC II results on real structures, containing service-induced defects, and on the extension of the PISC methodology to the most important structural components.
