Development of smokeless fuel technology
This project set out to establish the best means of developing a domestic briquetted fuel for the Republic of Ireland market from readily available feedstocks. The high incidence of dry-back and wet-back open fires in Ireland has led to a requirement for an optimum briquetted fuel capable of meeting the requirements of the statutory instrument in Dublin and of satisfying a sophisticated customer demand. The first stage of the programme involved research and development of the most promising prototype fuels, the second stage involved choosing the optimum fuel, and in stage three the fuel was produced. The briquettes used in the trials are described in this report.
