Endogenous regional development in Europe : Theory, method and practiceFunded under: FP2-CAMAR
The main theme of this publication is the elaboration of appropriate methodologies and theories for the identification, exploration and analysis of endogenous development potential in different marginal rural areas in the European Union. Central to this theme is the concept of styles of farming which links heterogeneity, endogenous development potential and the role of farmers in agricultural development. The report brings together various comparative research results from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and the Netherlands and is, at the same time, a critique for current notions of marginalisation and a plea for exploring the potential of existing marginal farming systems.
