Treatment, disposal, re-use of building demolition and site cleaning wastes from nuclear facilities
The investigation has been concerned with waste materials arising from building demolition associated with the decommissioning of different nuclear facilities in the fuel cycle. Information was gathered and compiled from Germany, the United Kingdom and France. For standardisation purposes, the information obtained reflects the waste arising from a 20 GWe fuel cycle scenario. In the context of waste treatment, disposal, and re-use, a major focus of this study considers waste materials that can be re-used as either restricted or unrestricted material. More research is needed for alpha waste monitoring especially in the area of the front-end and back-end plant demolition.
