Abstract

In this paper the magnetic and other electronic properties of U(2)T(2)X compounds (T = late transition metal, X = Sn or In), that crystallise in the tetragonal U(3)Si(2) structure are presented. They show the formation of 5f magnetic moments and AF ordering in compounds where weak 5f-d hybridisation is expected. Near the onset of magnetic ordering, strongly enhanced gamma-values are found. Neutron-diffraction experiments on U(2)Pd(2)Sn and U(2)Pd(2)In, point to a connection between the mutual coordination of U atoms and the type of magnetic anisotropy.
