This article studies the non-destructive techniques employed for the inspection of anisotropic composite materials. A good knowledge of the anisotropic properties of the carbon fibre composite is required for the prediction of the ultrasonic response from known reflectors and for the interpretation of the inspection results. The elastic constants and the attenuation factors were measured and, successively, experimental echodynamic curves on 30 , 45 and 60 slots were successfully compared with theoretical predictions.
