Abstract

A number of full-scale prototypes and a mock-up of the IGNITOR machine have been manufactured and tested in order to assess the design requirements and optimise the manufacturing process. The fabrication process of the full-scale prototypes of the plasma chamber and C-clamp has been proved to be valid and has shown that the design requirements and specifications can be fulfilled. The welding process carried out on a central post mock-up was tested and optimised to obtain sound joints with unaltered mechanical properties.
