Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The aim of the symposium on climate change and impacts was to discuss the present knowledge of climate variability, climate change and associated impacts. Forty-four scientific papers were presented, each representing research projects involving several European research groups and supported by the EU climatology research programme. Major advances have been made in these areas, extending from high resolution reconstructions of past climates to detailed studies of the processes in the atmosphere, oceans, cryosphere and the biosphere. These advances have helped in the formulation of more complete models for the prediction of climate change, and its impacts on agriculture, forests and other sectors of socio-economic importance.
