This booklet contains the executive summary of the first European report on science and technology indicators. The aim of the report is to ascertain how the performance of the twelve member states of the European Union in science and technology compares with other leading countries. It goes beyond the developed world to provide comparative data on some 50 countries, including Russia and other transition economies in Eastern Europe and larger developing countries in Asia and Latin America.
