Intercomparison of Ozone Measurements in the Framework of the Project Proposal : Ozone and Photo-Oxidants in the Alpine Regions Ispra 16-19 May 1994Funded under: JRC-ENVPROT 6C
A common concern of the alpine regions on the frequent and intense photochemical pollution episodes observed in the warm season along the valleys and on mountain slopes, has pushed regional agencies and research organisations to set up a working group to collect and analyses data. To have comparable data, a first intercomparison of ozone measurements took place in May 1994 at the JRC Ispra. The intercomparison indicated that 13 of the 16 different monitors involved in the exercise measured ozone concentrations in good agreement with the ERLAP standard values. Except for the lowest level where accuracy was largely influenced by instrumental noise, all other values were within 7% of the standard value. Interferences of water vapour on the instrumental response were observed for almost all analysers, particularly at the highest ozone level.
