This paper contains a short description of the results of the EUROMET project on the metrology of 192Ir brachytherapy. 192Ir has become increasingly important in recent years as a brachytherapy source prepared as low dose rate and as high dose rate point sources. It is important to know either the air kerma rate (AKR) or the activity of such sources. A first intercomparison on AKR and activity was carried out on 192Ir wires of the type ICW.1xxx. The results fell short of expectations of better than 5 % accuracy.
