Interfacial dislocation-based criterion for the prediction of rafting behaviour in superalloys
A new criterion for the prediction of rafting in superalloys is presented, based on the anisotropy in the interfacial dislocation energies. A map developed with this approach is shown to provide similar yet improved predictions compared to the one constructed by Pineau, who used a more complex criterion based on the elastic energy of inclusions. This simple criterion is expected to provide a more efficient way to model the anisotropic interfacial energies in the simulation of the microstructural evolution causing rafting phenomena.
