Studies of line emission from collisions of multiply charged ions on He and Li targets for tokamak diagnosticsFunded under: FP3-FUSION 11C
The needs for cross-sections related to He- and Li-beam based visible light charge exchange spectroscopy at large tokamaks are identified. New crossed-beam measurements of such state selective charge transfer cross-sections are presented for collisions of multiply charged ions on He and Li atoms. The possibly crucial role of metastable atoms as electron donors is recognised. It is shown that the relevant cross-sections can be obtained by interpolation from experiments with Na and laser-excited Na.
