This paper presents the analysis of a 4 storey R/C frame structure tested pseudodynamically in ELSA (the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment). The influence of modelling parameters on the structural response is discussed. A general analysis of the test results is included in order to identify the appropriate assumptions to be adopted in the modelling of these structures and to evaluate the seismic performance of ductile R/C frame structures. Several aspects are discussed, namely: the pull-out and the slippage of the reinforcing bars in the beam to column joints, the slab participation in the strength and stiffness and the distribution of rotations in the plastic hinge zones.
