Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This brochure, published by the ACTS programme, presents an insight into teleworking as a new method of employment. In November 1993 the European Commission launched a new series of 30 actions (in association with more than 300 organisations) to encourage the implementation of teleworking from January 1994. The principal aim of these initiatives is to stimulate work in Europe and in this context, teleworking will become a key tool. The objectives of teleworking are: (i) promotion of local employment; (ii) reduction of the cost of exploitation; (iii) increasing the possibility of working flexi-time; (iv) conservation of energy and reduction of pollution; (v) giving individual workers increasing responsibility for time management.
