Measurement of the parallel velocity spread of the electron beam in a quasi-optical gyrotron by electron cyclotron emission
The parallel velocity distribution function of the electron beam in a quasi-optical gyrotron (QOG) has been determined with time resolution by measuring the Doppler upshifted electron cyclotron emission (ECE). This paper presents the experimental results obtained from the analysis of the ECE spectrum. The measured parallel velocity spread is about 2-3 times larger than that predicted by the electron gun code DAPHNE.
