Abstract

New concepts have recently been proposed for LHW antennae on large tokamaks, based on quasi-optical techniques. The basic theory of a diffraction grating is applied to a quasi-optical grill. A theoretical model is developed to calculate the efficiency of a grill with a single grating layer. In order to improve the efficiency, the possibility of a resonant grill composed of a double layer of rods or strips is considered. Numerical applications are presented for both types of grill.
