The most significant pathway for the transport of radionuclides from a waste repository deep in hard fractured rock to the surface environment is through solution in the local groundwater system. This report documents an exploratory approach to characterising the hydrogeological system in the rocks at Sellafield. The hydraulic characteristics are measured across a block of rock. Correlations between geological and hydraulic data can indicate structural or stratigraphical controls on flow.
