This paper applies the method of finite elements to transport phenomena. The use of the Taylor-Galerkin method is linked with the numerical treatment giving high spatial resolution provided by the common Galerkin formulation by finite elements. The wave propagation equation is examined as an example, followed by the extension of the model to N dimensions. The greater the value of N, the less benefit is obtained from the high precision factor provided by the Galerkin approximation.
