Neutral beam injection into TEXTOR
TEXTOR is a tokamak equipped with two neutral beams injecting up to 2 MW each with and against the direction of the plasma current tangentially. This paper describes the layout of the ion sources, the pumping system, the calorimeter, the scrapers, the power supplies and the associated diagnostics as well as the performance of the whole system in particular with respect to the beam quality. The impact of neutral beam injection on the parameters of the TEXTOR plasma are described in relation to the profiles of temperatures and densities, impurity concentrations, wall performance, poloidal plasma rotation, energy confinement.
