Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

TELEMAN is the European Commission's research and training programme in the field of remote handling in hazardous or disordered nuclear environments. This publication discusses its aims and objectives and reviews its first three years of research. In the first phase of the programme, generic components and sub-systems were developed. The results from these first projects are being brought together on prototype research machines for testing in realistic industrial conditions, covering the whole range of tele-operated devices needed by the nuclear industry. Progress made in key technical areas is outlined and future considerations are discussed.
