This report provides a set of general purpose guidelines to assist in and encourage the use of ergonomic principles in the design and development of computer-based information systems. The recommendations made are based on a detailed review of ergonomic factors in computer systems and human-machine interaction. Information is provided on dialogue design, colour, menus, graphs and charts, tables, text on VDUs and abbreviations.
