Abstract

This book provides a perspective on the future use of knowledge based systems (KBS) and techniques in telematics in the healthcare sector, and discusses the research carried out under the EPISTOL project. It contains a scenario report which presents complementary perspectives of users, industry and researchers. The contributions to the Munich workshop are presented and include papers on the challenge of telemedicine, signal and image processing applications, legal issues incurred from KBS use, and human and computer intelligence. The reports from the discussions that took place at the EPISTOL workshop and seminar are presented.
