The types of accidents are examined, together with the times at which they take place, the types of road and traffic situations in which they occur and the extent to which culpability for accidents changes with the age of the driver. The principal sources of accident data used in the report are from the UK, North America, Scandinavia, Portugal, Spain and France. Volume 1 presents a summary of the data, Volume 2 (Technical Annex) gives full details and reference sources for the data.
